  • This SIG brings together CTP-funded researchers to understanding the short- and long-term health effects of various tobacco products across populations of special relevance. Priority areas of this SIG include cardiovascular or respiratory health effects, including inflammation, cancer, oral health, and reproductive health. The SIG includes TCORS and non-TCORS researchers, federal partners from the NIH and FDA’s Center of Tobacco Products, and CASEL team members.

  • This SIG brings together CTP-funded researchers to understand the impact of marketing on susceptibility to using tobacco products (both classes of products and products within classes) and transitions between experimentation, initiation to regular use, and dual use among different populations. Topics include tobacco industry marketing such as advertising, digital media, and promotions. The SIG includes TCORS and non-TCORS researchers, federal partners from the NIH and FDA’s Center of Tobacco Products, and CASEL team members.

  • The Toxicity SIG brings together CTP-funded researchers to understand how tobacco products and changes to tobacco product characteristics affect their potential to cause morbidity and mortality in both users and secondary exposure. The research includes animal and cell culture models as well as novel alternative toxicology approaches that test the toxicity of tobacco smoke, aerosols, or specific constituents in tobacco. The SIG includes TCORS and non-TCORS researchers, federal partners from the NIH and FDA’s Center of Tobacco Products, and CASEL team members.
